Common Questions About BDA

1. Why is so little known about BDA?

See the History Page

2. Is BDA available for licensing?

Yes. Definitely.

3. Does BDA Infringe on PCR?

People often ask me whether BDA requires a PCR license. Several patent attorneys with whom I've spoken told me that they felt BDA did not infringe on PCR. If that is true, BDA is a hot property. I'm not an attorney, however, and make no such claim. I refer all such questions to Mr. William Hostetler, the Director of Technology Transfer at OSU. His phone number is 541-737 3439. If I can be of any help in interpreting this, please feel free to contact me at ahernk@bcc.orst.edu

4. What parameters are important for optimizing BDA?

The patent text describes about as much as I know about stem and loop length of adapters. Clearly these are factors to consider in optimizing BDA.
