The frontier of our knowledge

We have reached a reasonable statement about the world as we know it

• Gravity: we know about it.   (Do we, really ?)
• Electromagnetism: everything else we see.   (Is it on its own ?)
• Weak: decays and such – it's a very different thing.   (Is it ?)
• Strong: keeps protons, neutrons, and nucleus together.

These are built by the tools of “quantum field theory” – with astonishing accuracy.
Fundamental concepts are fields, with their dynamics; particles are their excitations.
In their lowest energy we call them “vacuum” – and it packs a lot, boiling wiht energy (literally).

The quest for “unification” has been (mostly) achieved for the last three: the Standard Model.
While the big conceptual questions remain unanswered; they evolve – and only probe deeper.
