The name is Jeffrey Early, but you will find me under the handle DoktorFaust on most message boards. I’m currently a graduate student studying physical oceanography at Oregon State University, having recieved my masters studying high energy physics at the University of Oregon. I am from Juneau, Alaska and still consider that my home town. Contact information is towards the bottom of the page.
We are looking for new solutions to nonlinear extensions of Rossby wave theory. My primary focus is using the method of group foliation to simplify the Flierl-Petviashvilli equation (one such extension to linear Rossby wave theory) by removing its symmetries, find solutions, then returning solutions to the full space. In addition, I have also written some code to numerically solve the FP equation and am now starting to use ROMs, a model which uses the primitive fluid equations, to analyze the behavior of the known solution.
I will slowly add more information and documents to a page dedicated to my thesis. The page also includes my numerical solution code, a reasonable example of how to use objective-c and cocoa in scientific applications.
I wrote a small little application called GPSPhotoLinker to embed latitude and longitude information into photos based on GPS track data.
Visit www.watrailblazers.org if you want to talk hiking in Washington State. This is a non-profit organization based in Washington of which I am now a non active member. I first designed the website in 2001, with a major redesign 2004/2005 incorporating a giant internal database designed by my uncle and grandfather, Brian and Walt Curtis. Brian has since become the primary webmaster.
My sister’s website, Mara Early, is now defunct. It was designed for her election campaign to city Assembly in Juneau, Alaska.
Of course, you need to visit the website of Mark Boyle where you can view and purchase some wonderful pieces by this award winning artist. (okay, so I designed this webpage too).
The website Taku River Reds Order page was designed by me, although no longer running. The shopping cart was custom built for Salmon fillet and steak orders. One of the coolest features, in my opinion, was the function I wrote to find the nearest Alaska Airlines Goldstreak airport to any US zipcode for overnight shipping.
You can contact me, Jeffrey J. Early by sending an email to [my_first_name]@[my_first_and_last_name].com
