Research Interests:

John Edwards is a social psychologist specializing in social cognition and individual differences. His general area of research concerns the motivational and personality factors that influence how people make judgments about other people. More specifically, he's studied how chronic uncertainty about the causes of events influences the judgments people make about other people's personalities.  He has also examined the ability of the various measures of information processing preference to predict effort in making social judgments.  More recently, he has been exploring people's cognition about situations, with the goal of understanding the qualities that people attribute to situations.
