CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
March 11: Schedule for finals week:
- Office hours: Mon. 2-4, Tues. 10-12, Wed. 2-4.
- Review Sessions: Tuesday 4-6 in Ballard 310 OR Wednesday 7-9 p.m. in Bexell 320.
- Take-home portion of the exam due NO LATER than the start of the exam on Thursday. I will accept them earlier with gratitude. I've had a question about sources of data to use in support of a point. If you can't find it in your text, then try the Statistical Abstract (on line at http://www.census.gov/prod/www/statistical-abstract-03.html) for recent years and Historical Statistics of the US at http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/collections/stats/histcensus.
- Exam 3 is Thursday, March 18 at 14:00 in the regular classroom. You may use the entire 2 hours, although the exam is only slightly longer than the midterms.
March 4:
- Assignment due Monday, March 8: Homework Assignment DUE Monday, March 8 (2 points):
I distributed first-hand accounts of life during the Great Depression. Each person
received two such accounts. If you were not in class, stop by my office in Ballard 315 and pick up a set from the envelope on my door. Read the 2 accounts. Then write a short essay in which you compare
and contrast a) the effect of the Depression on the two families b) how the families coped
with the effects in part a and c) the impact of government programs on the family.
Note: There is no web assignment this time.
- The last exam will consist of questions on the last section of course material and a take-home integrative question due at the start of the exam. The take-home portion is worth 8 of the 35 points on the exam.
Feb. 5: NEW Web Exercise due Feb. 10.
Jan. 23: NEW INFORMATION RE EXAM 1:
- The exam will only cover chapters 2-6, and pp. 138-41 plus the 2 web readings. It will NOT cover the post-revolutionary period.
- The optional review session will be Monday, Jan. 26 in StAg 106 at 7 p.m.
