Course Objectives: This course can help you improve your scores on the TOEFL by

Course Requirements:

  1. Homework will be assigned for every class. Please do it!

Every Tuesday you will need to hand in:

      a) A yellow assignment sheet that summarizes the week's work

      b) A list of at least 10 new vocabulary words

  2. Attend every class; be on time and be ready to participate.

Grading:

You will receive a mid-term and a final grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) based on your attendance, preparation, participation, and homework. In-class work is extremely important! Students who do not regularly attend will not pass this class (even if they do all of the assigned homework).

Note: This class will improve your language and test-taking skills; however, it will not automatically lead to a score of 550 in ten weeks. TOEFL 165 is only a small part of your overall language program. Your other ELI classes will develop language skills that are critical for success on the TOEFL and in the university classroom. Please attend all your ELI classes regularly!
