Bent Petersen Disclaimer

The documents on this Web site are personal Web pages. These Web pages are NOT an official Oregon State University information source. I do have opinions. Occasionally some of them pop up on my Web pages. Such opinions do not represent a policy, opinion or position of Oregon State University, nor of the Mathematics Department, nor quite possibly, of any other person or institution.

Some effort is made to ensure these Web pages are correct as of the "last updated" date. None the less, I may fail to update some information, and so some things may be out of date. Even if it is current, information may also be incorrect because of blunders and oversights.

With regard to classes I reserve the right to change the content, method of presentation and testing procedure of future versions of any course. Information concerning previous classes may not be relevant to current or future versions.

Some old tests and assignments are presented here. They are made available as a study aid. They may not be representative of the tests that will be given currently or in the future.

Course content and requirements change constantly. Working through the old tests or reading supplementary notes and examples from previous courses may help your understanding, but may have little effect on your grade due to changes in emphasis. There are no guarantees.

Some of the old tests contained errors that were corrected when the tests were given (and a few that were not corrected). Most of the corrections have not been incorporated in the test versions presented here, though I may have remembered to do some. Worse, some errors may have been incorrectly corrected and spawned new errors.

Some lecture notes, assignments and supplementary documents are presented here. They are all copyrighted but may be freely distributed for any non-commercial educational purpose. The notes are informal and are guaranteed to contain some errors. You should check everything, especially citations, before making any serious use of anything you find here.

Some of my notes may contain historical remarks. These remarks are often conventional history and may bear very little relation to what actually transpired, or at the very least may contain serious errors concerning priorities. Again, check anything that you want to use. I am definitely not a historian and even if I were, well, the historians do not always agree with each other. Discovering the historical truth, or an approximation to it, is a process, not a fait accompli.

Use information you find here at your own risk.
