Linus Pauling and the Race for DNA: A Documentary History
On Thursday afternoon I presented a poster on the “Linus Pauling and the Race for DNA” website. Approximately 200 of the 350 conference registrants attended this session. Conversants were most interested in the XML-based platform used to create the functionality of the website. Many people were also intrigued by the three-fold interface offered by the website – a narrative for introduction to the DNA story; a “view all documents” interface for more scholarly investigations; and the “Linus Pauling Day-by-Day” feature for context on the time period. This was the first time that School for Scanning offered poster sessions and most involved felt that the sessions were very much worthwhile.
