MarcEdit Startup

Buttons:

There are currently eight options available to the users from the startup screen.  The two buttons on the left and two radio buttons access the applications main functions.  The three buttons on the right provide quick access the tools and wizards found in the program.

MARC Tools:

 This button accesses MarcEdit's many powerful MARC conversion functions.  The following conversions are currently supported by the MARCEngine:

1. MARC => Text
2. Text => MARC
3. MARC => MARC21XMLslim
4. MARC21XMLslim=>MARC
5. XML Functions

MarcEditor:

This button access the built in text editor.  The MarcEditor module takes the place of the Edit window found in the previous version of MarcEdit.  In the previous version, the edit window allowed the user to edit and create MARC records inside of the application.  The MarcEditor takes this function a step further, embedding a fully functioning wordpad into the MarcEdit application.  The MarcEditor is still linked to the MarcMaker for quick MARC file creation, in addition to adding a number of new features aimed at making record creation a little bit simpler.  For example, the MarcEditor includes a field counter, a search and replace function, a Global Delete and Add Field option, as well as a spell checker for checking words and phrases. 

Wizards:

The application contains two wizard to help users customize their version of MarcEdit.  These wizards are the 1) Diacritics Wizard and 2) the Plugin Wizard.  The Diacritics wizard allows users to specify custom diacritics to be used, in addition to the default diacritics support.  The second wizard, the Plugin Wizard, allows users to create their own solutions, and integrate them into the MarcEdit application.
