Hello, and welcome to my website for trumpet instruction with a schedule of my performances and other information. Here is Ken’s music bio: Ken Saul, principal trumpet with the Corvallis/OSU Symphony, received the Bachelor of Music in Performance from San Francisco State University where he studied with Joseph Alessi, Sr. He continued his music studies in composition at SFSU and at the Juilliard School. Ken also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from OSU and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from NTU. He is a senior engineer at Hewlett-Packard and is an instructor of trumpet at OSU.
Ken gives frequent clinics on brass playing and has soloed with the OSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Willamette Valley Concert Band, and in various recitals.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During the 2010-2011 school year, I will have some really exciting performances! Nov 22, 2010 7:30PM with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony: Shostakovich Piano Concerto #1. This work features Alexander Tutunov on the piano and has a very prominent solo trumpet part. It is almost a dual concerto for piano and trumpet. On the same program — Symphony #5 of Shostakovich and the 1812 Overture of Tchaikovsky, with the OSU Marching Band joining in the fun! Feb 23, 2011 7:30PM with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony: Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries and the Highlights from Act III of Gotterdammerung. Fabulous brass parts. May 24, 2011 8PM with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony: Richard Strauss’s Alpine Symphony. 18 horns, a wind machine, and I don’t know how many trumpets — a huge blast for all! June 4th and 5th with the Willamette Valley Symphony: Guest soloist on the Haydn Trumpet Concerto. I am looking forward to performing this beautiful trumpet concerto with Sean Mills and the fine musicians who make up the community symphony. |
