Welcome to my website!
 

I am a Ph.D student in the department of Computer Science at Oregon State University.

 

I am working under Dr. Thomas G. Dietterich, Professor, EECS, Oregon State University.

 

My general research interests are Machine Learning, Data Mining and Human Computer Interaction (Intelligent Systems).

 

Currently I am working on a DAPRA funded project named 'Machine Reading'. I also recently joined a Google funded project called "TaskTracer".

 

I completed my Masters (Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering) in 2009, with concentration in Computer Engineering from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (EECE) at The University of Memphis

I did my Bachelor (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering) in 2004 from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

What's New

 

Feb, 2012 : I am offered a summer (2012) internship offer by Microsoft Research. Looking forward to get the taste of the greatest industry research in their Machine Learning and Intelligence Group, a sub-group within Machine Learning Department.

Dec 12-15, 2011 : I attended NIPS 2011 to present our paper on Explicit Mention Model.

Sept 9, 2011 : Our paper on implicit mention model got accepted in ACML 2011.

Aug  30, 2011 : Our paper on explicit mention model got accepted in NIPS 2011.

Aug 23-Sept 26 : My wife and I had a vacation back home (Bangladesh), enjoyed the time and Eid with family after more than 2 years.

April 29, 2011 : We had two papers in IJCAI 2011 Workshop on Learning by Reading and its Applications in Intelligent Question-Answering and both of them got accepted.

April 5-8, 2011 : I attended Machine Reading Phase 3 kick-off meeting and jointly organized Student Summit at Seattle, WA. I presented a poster on "Mention Model for Learning Rules from Incomplete Examples".

December 3, 2010 : I successfully passed my Ph. D Qualifying Exam. I prepared a review paper on Multi-label Learning. In addition, I had oral exam on research and course works.

Events & Calendars

 

June 1, 2010 : I attended NAACL'2010 at Los Angles, CA. We had a paper in Formalisms and Methodology for Learning by Reading (FAM-LbR) workshop.

Dec 29, 2009 : We (my wife and myself), finally moved to Corvallis, Oregon! New life at Oregon State University for both of us.

Jan 25, 2009 : After a vacation for about most eventful two month, I resumed back to my work a CVPIA lab, The University of Memphis.

Nov 29, 2008 : I am at Dhaka, Bangladesh, with my family and friends. After more than 2 years I am with my family, its really fun to be back to "Home Sweet Home".

Nov 10, 2008 : I successfully defended my Masters thesis on "Robust Modeling of Dialog Acts using Language and Speech". I was really glad to have Dr. Artthur C Graesser, Department of Psychology, The University of Memphis, in my thesis committee.

July 24, 2008 : I have been awarded Herff Fellowship, awarded by Herff College of Engineering, The University of Memphis. This fellowship includes tution fees and handsome scholarship for next 3 years.

May 19, 2008 : I joined IBM, Rochester, MN, as an intern for summer 2008. I worked on Security Automation (i.e. administration, application and resource sharing, encryption and audit) project, STAF for Websphere Application Server performance evaluation using STAX, Java, Jython and Jacl.

April 5, 2008 : Our research paper titled as "Robust Classification of Objects Using a Sparse Detector Sensor" got accepted for MLMTA'2008 conference held on July 14-17, 2008.

July 1, 2007 : My  first research publication that I submitted for ICSC'2007 conference on May 18, 2007 got accepted.

May 7, 2007 : I joined AutoZone Inc. as Summer IT (Security) Intern. I worked on two different projects, namely Automatic secure (i.e. PGP Encryption) file transfer (i.e. scripting in Expect, Perl) and deployment of File integrity checkers (i.e. Samhain) on servers and mainframes.
