Some Background Information: I grew up near a small town called Toppenish. It is located in the southern half of central Washington on the Yakama Reservation. The Yakama Reservation covers roughly 1.2 million acres, and is the central land base for the ~10,000 members of the 14 tribes and bands of the Yakama Nation. I am proud to be a member of this Nation. It is my home regardless of my current location. It remains to be the place that I turn to for inspiration, comfort, and identity. Since a young age, I have always been fascinated with the environment and how organisms interact with it. This fascination is what has guided throughout my academic and professional career choices. In 2005, I received a B.S. in Environmental Science from Washington State University. I am currently attending Oregon State University; pursuing a M.S. in Water Resource Science. My research focuses on an aspect of water quality in the Willamette River, OR. More specifically, I am working to quantify a heat budget for a gravel bar on the river in an effort to further the understanding of the hyporheic zone of large gravel bed rivers. Looking toward the future, I hope to be able position myself so that I can continue to enrich my knowledge of the natural world, but also benefit tribal peoples everywhere. Description of the Links
